Rakel Wiberg is a Stockholm born, Gothenburg based potter and ceramic artist. Her ceramic journey started in a relatives studio in Spain, and quickly became one of her biggest passions. After a year of full time ceramic studies at Grebbestad Folkhögskola she moved back to Gothenburg and became part of the Open Studio at Pien Ceramics, where she now teaches wheel throwing.

”I find the ceramic process truly magical. What starts out as a lump of clay can turn into a bowl, a cup, a vase or a sculpture, the opportunities are endless. I still think about the first time I drank out of a cup I had made myself; it felt so powerful and I was so proud of myself!”

Rakel finds her inspiration from nature; from the woods by her family’s cottage but also from the rocks, the cliffs and the ocean on the west coast. She creates both functional and artistic pieces, always with a curiosity to try new things.
