Wheel throwing

The process of working with ceramics takes time and patience. Over several weeks, you get introduced to different concepts, and learn to find your own way with clay.

You will start your journey in pottery with the basics of wedging, centering, pulling up, shaping and trimming. You will be able to throw your first pieces! You will have moments during this course to reflect with your teacher and through the feedback of your fellow students you will be able to progress quickly.

During this course you will also learn how to glaze your pieces and we will fire them for you after glazing.

The main focus in a course is on techniques, the process and practicing. Not on producing as many pieces as possible (6 max). If you wish to continue making with ceramics, consider a membership during or after this course.

Do you wants to further advance your skills on the wheel? Haven’t yet tried throwing closed forms? Then this workshop is for you!

During this weekend you will get to learn two techniques for making jars; throwing a closed form and throwing a split gallery + lid.

On the first day there will be a demonstration of the shapes, and then continual guidance throughout the day. On the second day there will be a demonstration on how to trim the jars and how to make the lid fit.

Since we are focusing on learning a new technique and not producing, you will be able to keep a maximum of 4 pieces. You will be able to choose what colours your pieces shall be glazed in, and the teacher will glaze your items for you after bisque fire.

You need to be able to center and pull up walls by your self.

Duration: August 22-23 from 10.00 -15.00 including a break for lunch (bring your own!). Coffee and fika is included.
